6th of October City (pronounced in the Egyptian colloquial Sixth of October) is a city in Giza Governorate, Egypt, one of the new Egyptian cities that was built to reduce the population density of Cairo. It is located 38 km from Cairo and is characterized by its low population density and also lower air temperature than Cairo. Because of its height above sea level, the city was named by this name after the victory of the sixth of October in 1973, like other cities that were named according to the same pattern, such as (Sadat City – Tenth of Ramadan City – Obour City), and the city was planned during the era of the late President Anwar Sadat, It is one of the huge projects implemented by the Ministry of Planning during the reign of Minister Hassaballah Al-Kafrawi, and it is considered one of the most successful industrial cities in Egypt. Most of its neighborhoods are characterized by good architectural organization and paved roads, and the height of its buildings does not exceed several floors. It also has major public and private hospitals, and it also has a large number of higher and medium institutes that reach more than thirty higher institutes. It also has a number of major commercial centers and a number of entertainment cities. It has its own international airport, and it also has a media production city and a control unit.
